Review: Insane Prophecy’s EP Apogee of an inquisition : Prophecy – Fulfilled

So even under metal, different people like different sub genres. Black metal is not something I liked very much but as soon as I hit play on the Insane Prophecy EP, I was like this is Indian? and Black metal?? and 3 piece??? and THIS good????

As I was raping the replay button on each song, I couldn’t stop thinking how well produced the sound is. With a thoroughly well mixed set this EP lasts for a little less than 15 minutes in total but the aftermath will have you running to the medical for a neck brace.

Apogee of an Inquisition opens with the title track and spares nothing from 0.01 to 3.42. A brutal track to say the least, it’s laced with multiple breakdowns and insane drumming. Just as you think the assault is over, Track 2 – ‘Blasphemy ov a Diabolic’ takes charge with an amazing intro steadily increasing into a storm of crunchy riffing and drumming faster than the speed of sound and then back again to where it all started. Track 3 – ‘Obsequies’, talk about surprises!!! I haven’t heard such a beautiful melody from the other blues and alternative bands who claim to publish music based on melody. With Track 4 – ‘The Canticle’, Insane Prophecy establishes their command on the listener’s mind(in this case ‘me’, but it certainly will for anyone who would lend them an ear.)

With a simple price tag of Rs. 100/-, no fancy online gimmicks and humble presence, Insane Prophecy genuinely lets their music do all the talking. They are one of the bands that I am desperately looking forward to see live and highly recommend the EP to anyone even closely interested in listening to some good metal!
